HELP CENTER & PRIVACY POLICY

Train Smarter.

On-device form analysis, AI coaching, and nutrition tracking — support and privacy for TrainTogether.

Getting Started

First Time Setup

System Requirements

Requires an iPhone on iOS 18.0 or later. TrainTogether is currently an iPhone-only app — there's no iPad or Apple Watch app yet. No account or sign-in is required; your workouts, nutrition log, and settings stay on your device, with an optional private iCloud sync for backup across your own iPhones.

Quick Start Checklist

  • Grant Camera access when you start your first workout so TrainTogether can track your form.
  • Optionally grant HealthKit access to sync steps, calories, weight, and workouts with Apple Health.
  • Pick an exercise from the Workout tab and follow the on-body overlay and rep counter.
  • Set a daily nutrition target on the Nutrition tab, and log meals manually, by barcode, or with the optional AI food-photo scanner.
  • Tap the floating coach button on any screen for on-device AI feedback on your training.

Workouts & Form Analysis

How does form analysis work?
TrainTogether uses Google's MediaPipe pose-detection models running entirely on your iPhone to track your body in real time. Each supported exercise has its own rep counter and form evaluator, so you get a live form score, an on-body overlay comparing your position to the ideal form, and rep-by-rep coaching cues — camera frames are processed on-device for this feature and are not uploaded.
Why isn't my rep count accurate?
Make sure your full body is visible in frame, lighting is even, and you're facing the camera at roughly the angle the on-screen guide suggests. Partial or very fast reps can be undercounted if key joints leave the frame.
Is my workout video saved or uploaded anywhere?
No. Camera frames are analyzed in real time for pose detection and discarded — they aren't uploaded. If you choose to record a session, the recording is saved to your device's photo library only, with your permission.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Camera-based workouts, rep counting, form analysis, manual and barcode nutrition logging, and the on-device AI coach (once its model has downloaded) all work without an internet connection. Only AI food-photo scanning and HealthKit/ iCloud sync need connectivity.

AI Coaching

Does the AI coach need an internet connection?
Only once, to download the on-device language model (Qwen, run locally via llama.cpp) the first time you open the coach. After that, coaching chat and personalized feedback run entirely on your iPhone. In Low Power Mode, TrainTogether automatically switches to lighter, rule-based tips instead of running the full model, to save battery.
Is there a limit on AI coach messages?
Free accounts get 5 AI coach messages per day. TrainTogether Pro raises the daily limit to effectively unlimited.
What happens to what I type to the coach?
Your messages are processed by the on-device model on your iPhone and are not sent to a server.

Nutrition & Hydration

How does AI food-photo scanning work?
It's optional and off by default. If you turn it on from the in-app consent screen, taking a photo of your food sends only that image — routed through a backend proxy, never your personal data or account information — to Google's Gemini model for calorie and macro estimation. You can turn it off any time in Settings, and can always log food manually or by barcode instead.
Are there limits on AI food scans?
Free accounts get 3 AI food scans per day; TrainTogether Pro raises that to 25 per day. Manual entry and barcode scanning are unlimited on both tiers.
How does hydration tracking work?
Log water with the quick-add buttons on the Hydration tab (e.g. Bottle 500ml, Jug 1000ml), and TrainTogether tracks your daily total against your target and can remind you to drink more.

Permissions

TrainTogether only asks for the permissions each feature actually needs, and every permission is optional except Camera for live workouts. Here's the exact prompt text iOS shows for each one, and why it's requested.

Camera

Required to use live pose analysis, rep counting, and form scoring.

"We need camera access to analyze your exercise form during workouts."

Health (Read & Write)

Optional. Lets TrainTogether read your existing steps, weight, and workout history, and write completed workouts back to Apple Health.

Read: "TrainTogether needs to read your health data to track your fitness progress, including steps, weight, and workout history."
Write: "TrainTogether needs to save your workout data to Apple Health to keep all your fitness information in one place."

Photos (Read & Add)

Optional. Only used if you choose to save or share a recorded workout clip.

Add: "We need permission to save your workout recordings to Photos."
Read: "We need access to your photo library to let you save and share your workout recordings."

Notifications

Optional. Used for workout reminders, streak reminders, hydration nudges, and form tips.

"TrainTogether uses notifications to remind you about workouts, track your streaks, provide form tips, and help you stay consistent with your fitness goals."

Microphone — not used

TrainTogether does not request microphone access. Spoken coaching cues are text-to-speech output from your iPhone; the app never listens to you.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

TrainTogether ("we," "our," or "us") is built on-device first: most of what the app does happens entirely on your iPhone. This policy explains what TrainTogether accesses, what stays on your device, and the one feature where anything is sent off it.

Camera & pose data

Live camera frames are analyzed on-device using Google's MediaPipe models for real-time pose detection, then discarded — they are not uploaded. A workout is only saved to your Photos library if you explicitly record and choose to save it.

Health & fitness data

If you grant HealthKit access, TrainTogether reads and writes steps, active and resting calories, heart rate, body weight, body fat percentage, sleep, and workouts through Apple's HealthKit framework. This data stays inside the Apple Health ecosystem on your device — TrainTogether does not copy it to a server of ours.

Nutrition data & optional AI food scanning

Manually entered meals and barcode scans stay on your device. If you turn on AI food-photo scanning (off by default, opt-in via an in-app consent screen), the photo you take is sent through a backend proxy to Google's Gemini API for calorie/macro estimation — this is the only feature in TrainTogether that sends data to a third party, it only ever sends the food photo itself, and it's rate limited (3 scans/day free, 25/day on Pro).

AI coaching

Coaching chat and personalized feedback run on an on-device language model (Qwen, via llama.cpp) that downloads once and then runs fully offline. Your messages are not sent to a server.

Local storage & optional iCloud sync

Workout history, exercise settings, and coach chat history are stored in a local database on your device. TrainTogether can optionally back this up to your private iCloud account via CloudKit so it carries over across your own iPhones — that's Apple's infrastructure tied to your Apple ID, not a third-party server of ours.

Diagnostics

Crash and error reports are logged to a file on your device to help with troubleshooting. There is no active upload pipeline sending these reports anywhere today.

Accounts & tracking

TrainTogether has no account system or sign-in, and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Data sharing

We do not sell your data. The only third party TrainTogether ever shares data with is Google's Gemini API, and only the specific food photo you choose to scan when food-photo scanning is enabled — never your workouts, health data, or coach chat history.

Your controls

  • Turn AI food-photo scanning off any time in Settings.
  • Revoke Camera, Health, Photos, or Notifications access any time in iOS Settings → TrainTogether.
  • Manage or delete HealthKit data from the Health app's Sources list.
  • Delete the app to remove its local database from your device.

Subscription & Billing

Free vs. Pro

Free

Camera-based workouts, rep counting, and form analysis across the full exercise library, manual and barcode nutrition logging, hydration tracking, HealthKit sync, and widgets are all free. AI coach chat is capped at 5 messages/day and AI food-photo scanning at 3 scans/day.

TrainTogether Pro

A monthly auto-renewing subscription that raises AI coach chat to effectively unlimited and AI food-photo scans to 25/day. Pricing is set by the App Store in your local currency and is always shown in the app before you subscribe.

Is there a free trial?
If your Apple ID is eligible for an introductory offer, it's shown on the subscription screen before you confirm. Eligibility and terms can vary by account and region.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed and managed through your Apple ID, not through TrainTogether directly. Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or use the "Manage Subscription" link in TrainTogether's Settings tab. Cancelling stops future renewals but doesn't refund the current billing period.
I paid but Pro isn't unlocked
Open Settings inside TrainTogether and tap Restore Purchases — this re-checks your Apple ID's App Store entitlements. Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you subscribed with.

Troubleshooting

Camera permission was denied
Open Settings → TrainTogether and enable Camera. TrainTogether also shows an in-app screen with a direct link to this Settings page when it detects camera access is off.
Form tracking or rep counting looks wrong
  • Make sure your full body is visible in frame.
  • Improve lighting — pose detection struggles in very dark rooms.
  • Face the camera at the angle shown in the on-screen setup guide.
AI coach isn't responding
The first time you use it, the on-device model needs a one-time download over Wi-Fi or cellular. If you're in Low Power Mode, TrainTogether intentionally switches to lighter rule-based tips instead of the full model to save battery.
HealthKit data isn't syncing
Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → TrainTogether on your iPhone and confirm both read and write access are turned on for the categories you expect (steps, weight, workouts, etc.).
Widget isn't updating
Widgets refresh on iOS's background schedule, not instantly. Opening the main app forces an immediate refresh.
Purchase or subscription not recognized
Use Restore Purchases in TrainTogether's Settings, and confirm you're signed into the Apple ID you subscribed with.
"This device isn't supported"
TrainTogether currently requires an iPhone running iOS 18.0 or later. It isn't available for iPad or Apple Watch today.
App feels slow or battery drains fast during workouts
Live camera-based pose analysis is CPU-intensive by nature. Close other apps before a session, and expect Low Power Mode to reduce AI coaching to simpler rule-based tips to conserve battery.
