Getting Started

First Time Setup

System Requirements

Requires iOS 14.0+ on an ARKit-compatible device.
Recommended: iPhone 12 Pro or newer (LiDAR) for optimal scanning accuracy.

Initial Scan Guide

  • Grant camera and location permissions.
  • Ensure you are in a well-lit environment.
  • Move device slowly and steadily (1-2 ft/sec).
  • Start with a small room to practice.

Scanning & 3D Reconstruction

How accurate is the 3D scanning?
Seekr uses RTAB-Map SLAM + ARKit/LiDAR fusion to achieve millimeter-level accuracy on supported devices (iPhone 12 Pro+).
What file formats can I export?
You can export 3D models in OBJ and PLY formats, compatible with Blender, Maya, MeshLab, and CAD tools.
How long does a scan take?
Scanning is real-time. A typical 10x10 ft room takes about 2-5 minutes to scan thoroughly depending on detail required.
Can I scan in low light?
LiDAR devices perform better in low light, but optimal results always require adequate lighting for texture capture.

Tagging & Organization

How does the hierarchy work?
System uses 3 levels:
  • Furniture: (e.g., Desk, Bookshelf)
  • Container: (e.g., Top Drawer, Box 1)
  • Item: (e.g., Passport, Pen)
Can I search across multiple spaces?
Yes! The full-text search scans all your spaces simultaneously and displays results with their complete hierarchy path.
Can I move tags?
Yes. Tap and hold a tag in the 3D view to drag it to a new location or container.

Wireless Sync

Do I need Wi-Fi or Internet?
No! Sync works via MultipeerConnectivity (Bluetooth/Local Wi-Fi) directly between devices.
How do I sync spaces?
Open Seekr on both devices > Select space(s) > Tap Sync > Select Target Device > Confirm.
Is my data secure during sync?
Yes. Transfers use encrypted peer-to-peer connections. Data never leaves your local network or touches a cloud server.

Data & Privacy

Where is my data stored?
100% Local Storage. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud.
Can I backup my data?
Yes. You can export data in CSV format (including hierarchy metadata) to Files or iCloud Drive.
What happens if I delete the app?
Local data is deleted. Please export/backup your CSVs and Models before uninstalling.

Troubleshooting

Scan quality is poor
Ensure adequate lighting. Move slower (1 ft/sec). Avoid mirrors/glass. Re-scan from multiple angles.
Can't find other device for sync
  • Ensure both apps are open.
  • Check "Local Network" permission in iOS Settings.
  • Enable Bluetooth on both devices.
  • Keep devices within 30ft.
App is slow / Battery drain
Scanning is resource intensive. Close other apps. For very large spaces, try scanning in smaller sections. Battery drain during active scanning is normal.
